Enhance Your Emergency Response Capabilities with CERT’s Trade-In Program

In today’s fast-evolving landscape, having the right tools and resources is critical for effective emergency response. Whether you’re part of a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a corporate emergency team, or a government disaster response unit, outdated equipment can hinder your ability to act swiftly and efficiently.

What is a CERT?

A Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) is an in-house team trained to act as first responders during emergencies such as fires, hazmat incidents, or medical crises. They provide immediate action to prevent escalation and support professional emergency services until they arrive

Why CERT Matters for Our Organization

Swift intervention: Mitigating early-stage emergencies can save lives, limit property damage, and contain threats efficiently.

Regulatory compliance: According to Singapore’s Fire Safety Act amendments (effective Sept 14, 2020), premises with Fire Safety Managers or Fire Certificates must have a CERT and an Emergency Response Plan (ERP)

Operational synergy: CERTs ensure seamless coordination with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) during incident response

According to the Straits Times opinion piece highlighted the crucial physical demands on CERT members. It emphasizes training in basic firefighting, first aid, CPR, and meeting stringent physical readiness standards. (See the references below)

CERT Classification Table

Updated 25/03/2022 Fire Safety Department Singapore Civil Defence Force

This table helps you follow SCDF’s CERT requirements. It shows what your team needs based on your risk level. Premises are grouped into Tier 1, 2, or 3. Each tier has different training and equipment needs. The table lists PPE, tools, and tasks for each level. It helps you prepare your CERT team properly. You can use it as a checklist. It improves emergency response and safety. It also helps during SCDF inspections. Following it helps you avoid penalties.
