Calibration

Calibration of measuring instruments against traceable reference devices, in our in-house laboratory and with partner vendors.

What calibration is, and why it matters

Calibration is the documented comparison of a measuring instrument against a traceable reference device. The reference has a superior measurement accuracy, so the comparison confirms that your instrument is accurate and minimises measurement uncertainty.

How often equipment needs calibrating

  • On a regular schedule. The most typical method: every 6 months to 1 year, which in most cases is enough to catch equipment before it drifts out of tolerance.
  • By usage. Track how many uses your equipment has left before it falls out of tolerance, and calibrate before then.
  • By the manufacturer’s advice. The owner’s handbook usually estimates how often the equipment should be calibrated.

Why choose us

The Fischer Bell calibration laboratory provides a range of calibration services to meet your standards compliance needs. Our laboratory technician has extensive knowledge and experience in metrology, and we work with third-party vendors to provide extended calibration and repair services beyond our in-house laboratory.
